Clay Middleton Wins Endorsement of Conservation Voters

Charleston , SC - The Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) has decided to endorse Clay Middleton in the race for South Carolina House District 111 over challengers Maurice Washington, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for South Carolina State University and Wendell Gilliard, longtime Member of the Charleston City Council.  This seat is currently held by Rep. Floyd Breeland who announced his retirement this spring.

Ann Timberlake, Executive Director of Conservation Voters of South Carolina stated "Conservation Voters of South Carolina endorses Clay Middleton because he intends to lead on clean air and clean water issues at the State House. Clay has the character and the courage to fight for the health and safety of Charleston's unique neighborhoods."

"I am proud to have the support of the environmental community and honored by this endorsement," Middleton said. "Conservation Voters is leading the fight in protecting our environment and providing clean air and drinking water to citizens in South Carolina, including House District 111. If elected to the State House of Representatives, I hope to aid in that fight by promoting a state investment in the production and development of alternative renewable fuels."

Conservation Voters of South Carolina is a non-partisan, statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting South Carolina's environment by making it a priority for elected leaders. As a legislative watchdog, CVSC works in concert with South Carolina's conservation community to identify and highlight important bills impacting air, water, wildlife, natural areas and our health.
